A Little Princess

$175.00

A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett , Puffin in Bloom Edition, August 28, 2014

This hardcover classic has a reimagined cover designed by Anna Bond of Rifle Paper Co.

As for the one of a kind fore-edge paintings themselves, Mandy Howard begins with clamping the book between two pieces of wood, followed by mapping out the scene in graphite. This scene is inspired by the 1995 movie adaptation, specifically when Sara is comforting Becky in the miserable attic they share. On either side of this scene are illustrations inspired by Anna Bond’s cover art to tie the piece together. Using watercolor paints and spraying each painting with matte varnish, the completed artwork is protected from dust. Due to the pressure from the clamps, the paint does not seep past the edge of the page.

While the pages can still be turned, this is recommended to be purchased as a decorative addition to your personal library, rather than to be read. This is due to the fact that the oils on our hands can damage the painting over time.
